AKI London - Hidden Platform Lift at Luxury Japanese Restaurant

AKI London is a fine dining Japanese restaurant based at 1 Cavendish Square in Marylebone , London. AKI London is the latest edition of AKI from Lifestyle Group. Lifestyle Group is a Maltese luxury hospitality business which has runs several brands across Malta with their Japanese restaurant being their first offering in London. The restaurant's location abridges Marylebone, Mayfair and Soho so offers theatre goers a taste of Japanese fine dining. We specified the lift with the client's lift consultant back in 2023 and then worked with hospitality specialist contractor WFC Contractors to delivery the project with the lift fitted in late 2025.

The hidden platform lift provides step free access for non-ambulant visitors to the main reception area. The lift is finished in the same white marble tiles as the rest of the floor so that it blends in seamlessly with its surroundings. The hidden platform lift takes up significantly less space than a traditional open platform lift. When it is compared with a ramp for a 500mm vertical rise like this project our hidden platform lift takes up less than an 1/8th of the space. Luxury hospitality venues such as AKI London cannot afford to lose space to large access ramps therefore our hidden platform lift is perfect.

With no landing gates or platform sides the lift can easily be accessed from the side before exiting the lift via the front edge onto the upper level. Flexibility of finishes coupled with robust design makes this the perfect solution for restaurants and bars like this one. The lift was fitted in one day with a return visit for testing and commissioning once the client handover was completed.
